The River and Boating Group

Enjoy the river, with or without your own boat

The River and Boating Group at Phyllis Court Club is a boating club with a difference; members do not need to own a boat to participate in the many and wide-ranging social functions and outings.

The group holds a monthly, and well attended, bar evening at the club, as well as several social events throughout the year:

  • The Fitting Out Lunch, held at Phyllis Court in April
  • Two river days (one spring and one autumn) where members, with boats, invite non-boat owners to join them on a cruise to a riverside pub or a meadow where they can picnic
  • An informal BBQ in the paddock in the summer
  • The major social events are concluded with a formal end-of-boating-season dinner at Phyllis Court, with a speaker

Previous outings have included trips to The Maritime Museum in Greenwich, a trip to Gosport and Portsmouth, lunch aboard a Light Ship followed by a visit the Mary Rose Museum.

Additionally, during the year the Group participates in the ATYC (Association of Thames Yacht Clubs) Rally and Dinner and, of course, enjoys getting together at the Henley Regatta, Music Festival and Traditional Boat Rally.
