Stranded Boats

‘Stranded Boats’ - Julie Goring

Walking along the prom in Wells-next-the-Sea I saw these stranded boats at low tide, early on a beautiful, sunny afternoon in October. The vibrancy of the colours of the little red boat with its orange lifebelt, and the reflection in the still pool of water made me stop. I loved the layers and textures of the scene - scattered pools of water, ripples in the softly coloured sand, the perfect alignment of the boats and the cloud formations above. I remember thinking - if anyone needs rescuing by lifeboat this afternoon, it could be a bit tricky!
