COMPUTER GROUP: THAMES WATER MANAGEMENT
Event: Monday 9 March 2020From: 10.30 am - To: 12 pmLocation: Ballroom
Peter Collins of the Environment Agency will talk about this very up-to-date topic.
From the water we drink, to our waste water, from current flood risks to hydropower and to the leisure use of the rivers... the Environment Agency deals with all of these. Peter will provide an overview of how the Environment Agency manages the non-tidal River Thames and will tell us about the maintenance programme required to keep it in working order for the benefit of its customers and the protection of wildlife. He will explain how water levels are controlled, how technology is used to help manage the river, and how we are harnessing the river to produce energy through hydropower schemes.
