Can I use the Fitness Centre and sporting facilities?

Members and hotel guests are able to use the Fitness Centre, swimming pool and saunarium when they are open, view more information here.

How do I join?

You don’t have to know a member to join the club. If however, you do know members who have been members themselves for six months and have known you for two years, they can propose and second your application. If you do not know any members, you will be invited to meet the Membership Committee to discuss your application. Names are displayed on the main notice board where they must remain for 28 days before going forward for election by the council. The procedure is the same for both UK and overseas applications.

What are the benefits of joining Phyllis Court Club?

The benefits include:

  • Use of all the facilities including the Fitness Centre

Do I have to know a current Member to join?

You don’t have to know a member to join the club. If however you do know members who have been members themselves for six months and have known you for two years, they can propose and second your application. How much does membership cost?

How long does it take to become a Member?

Approval of an application takes approximately one month, but timing can vary depending on when the interviews take place and when the application is received. Due to the waiting list, all we are unable to give a specific timeline.

What is the Dress Code?

The dress code depends on where you are in the club and when, and also if you are attending any special events. Find out more about the dress code here

Is it possible for non-members to hold a private event in the Club?

Yes, if you know a Member currently at the Club who is able to sponsor and attend the event. 

 

May I use my mobile phone in the Club?

Members may occasionally use a laptop, tablet or mobile telephone at the club. Such activity must not be intrusive. 

What are your opening hours?

The club is open from 7am-11pm from Monday to Sunday. There is a night porter on duty from 11pm-7am.

May I attend an event as a non-member?

Yes, you can attend an event as the guest of a member or by invitation to a private event

May I bring guests to the Club?

Members can bring as many guests as they like throughout the year. We ask that you sign guests in at the main reception.

How many times can you bring a guest?

Members are permitted to sign the same guest in up to six times per year.

Children

Can children visit the Club?

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and must be signed in as a guest. Children are welcome in the Lounge, Orangery, on the Terrace and in the grounds.

Do you provide High Chairs?

Yes, we have high chairs and booster seats. Please ask for these when making your lunch/dinner reservation.

Do you have Baby Changing facilities?

Yes.

Facilities

What Facilities does the Club have?

The club offers a full range of facilities including:

  • Private function rooms for lunches, dinners, receptions and meetings
  • Reading room
  • Library
  • Computer access
  • Lounge and members bar
  • Bridge and scrabble room

What places are there to eat?

There are a number of restaurants and bars, including:

  • The Members Bar and Lounge that serve sandwiches and light snacks
  • The Thames Room and Orangery Bar for more formal lunches and dinners
  • The Riverside Pavilion with views overlooking the Thames
  • The Terrace for light meals outside with river views

Are there any sports facilities?

We have a wide range of sports facilities and clubs. Facilities include:

  • Fitness Centre including 20m pool, Sanarium, Gym, Treatment Room and Group Exercise Studio hosting complimentary classes and paid courses
  • Four all-weather tennis courts
  • Four croquet courts
  • Rowing enclosure
  • Billiards and snooker room
  • A golf society that plays at local courses

Are there changing facilities?

Yes we have changing rooms, lockers and showers in both the Fitness Centre and Clubhouse.

Bedrooms

Are non-Members able to book bedrooms?

Yes, our bedrooms can be booked by non-members and they have temporary membership during their stay, along with use of some of the facilities. View the Hotel pages for more information. 

Do Members get reduced rates when they book bedrooms?

Yes, members receive a discounted rate for bedrooms booked for themselves, friends or family members.
 

General

Are there boat moorings at Phyllis Court to use when visiting the Club?

Yes, we have two 30ft and one 27ft visitor moorings which Members may use when using the Club facilities. The visitor moorings are in front of the Riverside Pavilion and have electricity. Booking is advisable in the summer.

Who owns Phyllis Court Club?

The Club is owned by its Members, and it is run for its Members.

Does the Club offer Wi-Fi?

The club offers free Wi-Fi to all members and guests. Wi-Fi is available in the Lounge, Members Bar, Terrace, reading area, library, bedrooms and meeting rooms.

Is the Club Open all year?

The Club is open all year round. We notify members of any days we close around the Christmas and Regatta periods.

How do you pay for your food and drink?

All Members are issued with a membership card to use in the club to charge items to their ledger account. Each month a statement is issued showing the ledger account balance. Members can choose to settle their account via direct debit, cash, cheque or BACS payment.

How easy is it to park and do you have to pay?

The club has parking for members in the forecourt as well as visitor parking. We also have overflow parking on busy days in the paddock. Parking is free for members and guests (except during Regatta). The total number of parking spaces is 250.

Are dogs allowed at Phyllis Court Club?

Yes, Members’ dogs are allowed on the terrace and can be walked around the grounds. Registered Assistance Dogs are allowed in the Club House. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times on club premises.

Is there a landing area for helicopters?

Yes there is a private landing area for small helicopters, by prior arrangement.

What happens to lost property at the Club?

Phyllis Court cannot accept responsibility for any items lost on the Club premises. Lost property is kept at the Club for a period of 3 months and any property not claimed in this time will be disposed of securely. If you have lost an item please call Reception on 01491 570 500.

Reciprocal clubs and reciprocal members

What is a reciprocal arrangement/club?

Phyllis Court has agreements with other private members Club across the world. These agreements allow our members access to exclusive clubs in the UK and across the world, as well as allowing their member to visit Phyllis Court. 

What reciprocal arrangements are there?

As a Member of Phyllis Court you may visit any of the Reciprocal Clubs we are affiliated with around the world, including clubs in London, Europe, South Africa, America, Australasia and the Far East. Read more about reciprocal clubs here.

How many times can Reciprocal Members visit Phyllis Court Club?

Reciprocal members of Phyllis Court are welcome to visit the club fourteen times a year and can use the club's dining and bedroom facilities. The club's sporting facilities cannot be used and the interest group activities are for Phyllis Court members only. Reciprocal members can apply for Henley Regatta tickets. Are there ramps for wheel chairs?

Yes, most areas of the Clubhouse and Fitness Centre are wheelchair accessible.

Accessibility

Is there Disabled Parking?

Yes, we have accessible parking in the Club House forecourt and by the Fitness Centre

Is there a disabled toilet?

Yes, there is a disabled toilet on the ground floor and we have accessible hotel rooms with an accessible toilet and wet room. There is also a disabled toilet and changing room in the Fitness Centre

Do you have a Lift?

Yes, there is a lift in the main lounge, in the Riverside Pavilion and The Fitness Centre.
