IPAD ART

The Artists Group have been discovering new ways of being creative

We spoke to Artists Group Chairman Caroline about how the group have adapted since lockdown began. Caroline said: "Our friendly Wednesday group of artists are very much missing being together, sharing artistic tips and inspiration and above all meeting together for coffee and a chin wag. However, we have not been deterred by our enforced social isolation and in our own homes have been busy doing art and sharing our results, thoughts and encouragement on a WhatsApp group set up by our secretary, Eileen. So, no problem! Our scheduled non-judgmental challenge simply found its way online and many images of ‘Our Favourite Place’ have been exchanged and appreciated.

Another challenge featured our favourite dogs and ‘Widget’ provided inspiration for a couple of portraits of this lively little hound. This is a great moment to master the ArtRage app on our iPads and experiment sketching with different techniques or using uploaded photos.

Although we were not able to take part in the planned Acrylics workshop at Phyllis Court under the tutelage of Paul Weaver, we will be setting up our easels, working at the kitchen table or wherever and taking inspiration from photos, books or our surroundings to ‘do it alone’ and share it together online.

This painting of Widget (above) was produced on an iPad, using the ‘ArtRage’ app. Amazing, what you can do!"

The ArtRage App
IPad art allows you to create works digitally. So even if you don’t have oils or watercolour paints to hand you can use a virtual artist’s studio, such as the ArtRage app, to create works on your iPad that look like the real thing!

The Group have discovered useful video tutorials, so whether you’re looking to create a portrait or a scene such as a stormy sea these guides will help you to achieve your goal. The great benefit of digital art, is that you can rub out/or delete strokes in pursuit of your desired look.
