The Golf Society

Practise your love of golf in a social setting

The Golf Society has been in place since 1985 and is very active throughout the Golfing Season. Between March and September seven Golf Days are arranged at various local courses. These events are a mix of golf styles from 4-ball alliance to singles stroke play, catering for all preferences.  In addition to the Golf Days a Mixed Greensomes KO competition runs throughout the Summer. The Committee Cup is a new competition for 2021, we are sure it will be fiercely contended for throughout the Season for the Title of ‘Golfer of the Year’.
The friendly Golf Society and Committee organise each golf day, doing a draw for partners/teams so that everyone can play with different members at each event.

Although competition is keen, the highlight of the day is often the post-match lunch or dinner, where tales of missed opportunities and stunning shots can be exchanged over a glass of wine and a good meal.

Non-playing members are most welcome to attend the lunch or dinner after golf and all social events.

In the Autumn there is a 3 day ‘Away Break’ to an attractive golfing complex further afield. Non playing members are welcome at the ‘Away Break’. These venues normally offer excellent Spa Facilities for non-playing members to enjoy while the golf competition is in progress.

In addition to the golfing days there are three Social Events during the year: - A Summer Social, The Captain’s Dinner, and the AGM and Dinner.

Any member of the Club is very welcome to join the Golf Society but must belong to a recognised golf club and have a WHS Handicap Index if they wish to play competitive golf or may join as a social playing member, playing at your own pace behind the competition.

The small annual fee to join the Golf Society is used to provide prizes for the competitions.
