During half term the Ballroom was transformed into a Mad Hatters Tea party. The event, which was organised by the Charity Action Group for members’ children and grandchildren, raised funds for three chosen charities (Sue Ryder Nettlebed Hospice, Nomad Youth and Community Project and South Central Ambulance Community Responders). Diana Pearman, Chair of the Charity Action Group told the Henley Herald: “It as the first time that the Charity Action Group have run a children’s event and it was very successful”.

Children dressed up as famous characters from the Lewis Carroll novel including Alice, the Mad Hatter and White Rabbits.

The themed tea party saw the group of 3-11 year olds enjoying treats which included chocolate clocks and Cheshire Cat cakes. Thanks to the donation of white chocolate rabbits from Total Hospitality Ltd, the party goers enjoyed a treasure hunt to find white (chocolate) rabbits! The entertainers who led the merriments were from Little Chico Productions.

The decorations in the Ballroom’s forest backdrop included live trees provided by Toad Hall Garden Centre.
