After a 60-day trial, which was a resounding success, Phyllis Court Club will extend Cromwell’s Fine Dining until 4th April 2020.

The experimental Fine Dining restaurant, which was launched in October, was the brainchild of the Club’s Head of Sales and Marketing, Caroline O'Connor and our Executive Chef. “We wanted to bring a different finer dining experience to Phyllis Court to compliment the bistro style Orangery and the other more relaxed dining offerings we have for our Members and guests” explained Caroline.

The interior design and atmosphere at Cromwell’s, which is situated on the site of the former Dining Room, has seen Members comparing the restaurant with top establishments in Mayfair and Dubai. The stylish room has grey and teal walls, dark wooden flooring, gold lighting, delicate ornaments and sculptural paintings by Artist Warren Kerley.

With Members and celebrities alike enjoying dining at the 46-seat restaurant it is no surprise that the private members club will be extending it. Prue Leith, The Great British Bake-Off Judge, dined in the restaurant and commended the overall experience stating that the "staff were charming, attentive and knowledgeable” and the food was “very good.”

While the seven-course tasting menu is set to stay, Chris Hogan, CEO and Club Secretary, described the development of the a la carte offering. “The restaurant was a trial and we have received fantastic responses. Members have loved the Tasting menu and wine pairings so this format will remain, and we have listened to feedback about the a la carte dishes so in 2020 they will be more diverse and served with fresh local vegetables."

The ethos of supporting local suppliers has been particularly popular with diners. Where possible, fresh local ingredients are sourced from suppliers within a 10-mile radius of the Club. The Chef's have worked with local businesses including Bosley Patch, Honey’s of Henley and Chiltern Lamb.

Chairman of the Club, Stan Ainsley, is delighted that the restaurant has been so well received and can therefore be extended. “At the launch of Cromwell’s our new CEO, Chris Hogan, heralded the restaurant as ‘the beginning of a new era for this Club’ and he was right. In 2020 we have exciting plans to advance the offering for all our Members and the extension of Cromwell’s marks the first step.”

The restaurant will close on 21st December as planned and open again, Tuesday – Saturday each week, with a new tasting menu and a la carte offering on 14th January 2020.
