New Photography Gallery

The new Photography Gallery in the Fitness Centre was unveiled in September.

The new Photography Gallery in the Fitness Centre was unveiled in September. 

The gallery was first introduced in April when the Centre was officially opened by former Olympian Sharron  Davies MBE. To make way for the new gallery, the images were made available to purchase and the proceeds went to the Charity Action Group.

Like the previous gallery, each of the 21 images in the new gallery was taken by Members of the Photography Group. The ethos of the exhibitions has been to demonstrate that great photographs can be achieved with sophisticated DSLR cameras and smartphones alike. 

At the September launch the general consensus was that this gallery is even more magnificent than the one  that preceded it. Rob Jones, Chairman of the Photography Interest Group, addressed the attendees and thanked all the Members who have supplied  images over the last three years.

“The Photography Group now has a library in excess of 1,000 images submitted by Members. We went through all of them to get to this point because a gallery is not just  about individual images, the sum of the parts leads to a greater whole. I believe we have created something which demonstrates the artistic talent among our Members, and it evokes a genuinely nice feeling when you come through the doors.”

Rob went on to thank the staff members who have supported the project and reminded the group that these images are also for sale with proceeds once again going to charity.
